How this was counted

Method and limits

  • The source is the text of 1,948 General Conference talks from April 2000 to October 2026 on churchofjesuschrist.org. Auditing reports, statistical reports and sustainings are left out. Footnotes are not counted.
  • A temple counts as “named” when a talk uses its full name, its common short name (such as “the Logan Temple”) or “the temple in” followed by its city. Talks that only describe a temple without naming it are not counted, so these numbers are a floor, not a ceiling.
  • Announcements come from the temple records used across Temples, by the Numbers, which follow the Church News when sources disagree. Each announcement links to the talk where the temple was named when it could be found in the talk text.
  • Short quotes on the temple pages are a single sentence from each talk. Read the full talk on the Church’s site or open the sketch note.
