Temple No. 162 · The story

The story of the Rome Italy Temple

President Thomas S. Monson announced the temple in 2008 and broke ground on October 23, 2010. Its curves were inspired by the Roman church of San Carlino. Olive trees 400 to 500 years old stand in the piazza.

President Russell M. Nelson dedicated the temple on March 10 to 12, 2019. For the first time in Church history, the entire First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles gathered outside the United States.

Elder Massimo de Feo said, “This was a dream. The dream then became a vision of faith.”
