Inspired by one of the most memorable stories in the Book of Mormon, this vintage-style t-shirt pays tribute to Ammon, the missionary whose idea of a relaxing afternoon at the lake involved defending King Lamoni’s flocks from raiders.

In Alma 17, Ammon begins his missionary service among the Lamanites by choosing to serve rather than preach immediately. He becomes a servant to King Lamoni and is assigned to care for the king’s flocks. When the flocks are scattered at the Waters of Sebus, Ammon and the other servants face what looks like an impossible situation. Rather than abandon his responsibility, Ammon gathers the scattered animals and prepares to defend them.

When the attackers return, Ammon demonstrates extraordinary physical strength, courage, and determination, fighting to protect the king’s flocks. The account tells us that he cuts off the arms of several of the attackers and preserves the flocks. Those arms become evidence of what happened—and Ammon’s seemingly impossible accomplishment helps open the door for his missionary work.

But Ammon’s greatest strength wasn’t simply in his sword arm. His story is ultimately about faithfulness, humility, sacrifice, and service to the Lord. He was willing to labor, serve, protect, and endure hardship so he could share the gospel of Jesus Christ.
