About Weak Things

I'm Mike Merrell. I’ve always been fascinated by strength.

Not just the kind of strength you can measure in a gym, but the kind that gets you through hard things—the strength to keep going when life gets difficult, to stand for what you believe, to serve others, to have faith when you can’t see the outcome, and to become something greater than you thought you could be.

That idea is the heart behind Weak Things.

The name comes from a simple truth found throughout the restored gospel of Jesus Christ: God can take things that seem weak, insignificant, or imperfect and use them to accomplish a marvelous work and a wonder. In the Book of Mormon and the Bible, the Lord repeatedly works through ordinary people who don't feel strong enough, skilled enough, or prepared enough. Their weakness doesn't disqualify them. Instead, it becomes an opportunity to rely on Him and become stronger. Perhaps, their weakness is their qualifier.

I believe that principle applies to all of us.

"And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them" (Ether 12:27).

We all have weaknesses. We all have things we wish were different about ourselves. We all face moments when we feel inadequate. But weakness doesn't have to be the end of the story. It can be the beginning of transformation.

That's why I created Weak Things.

The shirts and designs are meant to be more than something fun to wear. They're reminders. Reminders of faith, courage, sacrifice, repentance, perseverance, and the incredible potential that exists within each of us.

Some designs are inspired by scripture and Church history. Others draw from powerful people, stories, symbols, and moments that have shaped my faith. And some are simply meant to make you smile while carrying a deeper message underneath.

I also love the connection between physical strength and spiritual strength. I enjoy training, lifting, and pushing myself physically, but I've learned that the strongest person in the room isn't the one who can lift the most weight. Real strength is found in character. It's found in doing hard things, keeping covenants, serving others, getting back up after failure, and trusting God when the path isn't easy. Weak things become strong.

I learned on my mission that weak truly can become strong.

That's more than a slogan. It's a promise. It's a covenant.

It's a reminder that our current weaknesses don't determine our ultimate potential. Through Jesus Christ, we can become stronger than we are today.

My hope is that when you wear something from Weak Things, it reminds you of that.

Whatever you're facing, whatever you're working toward, and whatever weaknesses you're trying to overcome—keep going.

You may be stronger than you think.

And with God's help, you can become stronger still.

Weak things become strong. Now, go buy Weak Things t-shirts!
