“Fear thou not; for I am with thee.”
Talk about it: Isaiah 41:10 says the Lord will strengthen us, help us and uphold us. When have you, or someone you know, felt that kind of help during a hard time?
“Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows.”
Talk about it: Isaiah 53:4 says the Savior carries our sorrows, not just our sins. What is one sorrow you have seen Him help someone carry — or help you carry?
“Arise, shine; for thy light is come.”
Talk about it: Isaiah 58 says a true fast helps “the hungry” and “the afflicted.” Who is one person you could quietly help this week — and what would it look like?
“Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee.”
Talk about it: Jeremiah felt too young (“I am a child”), but God knew him before he was born. Where in your life does God know more about what you can do than you do?
“They are new every morning.”
Talk about it: Lamentations 3:22–23 says the Lord’s mercies are new every morning — even after Jerusalem fell. What does a “new morning” from the Lord look like for a teenager?
“A new heart also will I give you.”
Talk about it: Ezekiel 36:26 promises to replace a “stony heart” with “an heart of flesh.” What makes a heart go stony — and what softens it again?
“Our God whom we serve is able to deliver us … But if not.”
Talk about it: Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego trusted God even if He did not save them (Daniel 3:17–18). What does “but if not” faith look like at school?
“I will betroth thee unto me for ever.”
Talk about it: In Hosea, the Lord keeps loving Israel like a faithful husband loves an unfaithful wife. What does it tell you about God that He never gives up on His covenant people?
“Should not I spare Nineveh?”
Talk about it: Jonah ran from his mission, then got angry when God forgave his enemies. Is there someone you would secretly rather God not forgive? What would it take to see them the way He does?
“What doth the Lord require of thee?”
Talk about it: Micah 6:8 boils it down: do justly, love mercy, walk humbly with God. Which of the three is hardest for you this week, and what is one small step?
“Consider your ways.”
Talk about it: The people built nice houses but left the Lord’s house unfinished (Haggai 1:4–5). What is one thing you keep putting ahead of the Lord — and what would putting Him first look like this week?
“He shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children.”
Talk about it: Malachi ends the Old Testament with Elijah turning hearts to family. Who in your family history would you love to know — and how could you start finding them this week?
“Unto us a child is born.”
Talk about it: The Old Testament prophets looked forward to Christ for thousands of years. Which Old Testament prophecy of Jesus this year meant the most to you, and why?
“Be It unto Me According to Thy Word”
Talk about it: Mary said yes before she understood everything that would happen (Luke 1:38). What helps you trust God when you can’t see the whole plan yet?
“We Have Come to Worship Him”
Talk about it: Luke 2:52 names four ways Jesus grew: wisdom, stature, favour with God, and favour with man. Which one do you want to grow in this year? What’s one small step?
“We Have Found the Messiah”
Talk about it: Philip didn’t argue with Nathanael. He just said, “Come and see” (John 1:46). Who first invited you to come and see? Who could you invite?
“Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord”
Talk about it: At Jesus’ baptism, Heavenly Father said He was “well pleased” (Matthew 3:17). How does remembering that you are God’s child change the way you think about repenting?
“The Spirit of the Lord Is upon Me”
Talk about it: Peter and Andrew left their nets and followed Jesus (Matthew 4:20). What is one “net” you could set down this week to follow Him more fully?
“Ye Must Be Born Again”
Talk about it: John 3:16 says God gave His Son because He loves the world, and that includes you. When have you felt God’s love for you personally?
“Blessed Are Ye”
Talk about it: Matthew 5:16 says our good works can help others glorify God. Who is someone whose light helped you? How could you be that for someone this week?
“He Taught Them as One Having Authority”
Talk about it: Matthew 6:33. What does “seek ye first” look like on a busy school day? Name one thing you could put first tomorrow morning.
“Thy Faith Hath Saved Thee”
Talk about it: Mark 4:39. The disciples woke Jesus in the middle of a storm. What storm in your life needs His “Peace, be still” right now? How can you invite Him in?
“These Twelve Jesus Sent Forth”
Talk about it: Matthew 9:36. Jesus saw the people as “sheep having no shepherd.” Who in your class, family or ward could use your compassion this week?
“I Will Give You Rest”
Talk about it: Matthew 11:30. A yoke joins two animals so they pull together. What does it look like to let the Savior pull with you on something hard?
“What Is the Kingdom of God Like?”
Talk about it: Luke 8:15. In the parable of the sower, which kind of ground is most like your heart right now? What would help it become good ground?
“O Grave, Where Is Thy Victory?”
Talk about it: Matthew 28:6. How does knowing Jesus Christ rose again change how you see hard things, or people you have lost?
“Be Not Afraid”
Talk about it: Matthew 14:27–31. Peter started sinking when he looked at the wind. What helps you keep your eyes on the Savior when life gets loud?
“Thou Art the Christ”
Talk about it: Matthew 16:15. Jesus asked His disciples directly. How would you answer that question in your own words today?
“What Shall I Do to Inherit Eternal Life?”
Talk about it: Luke 10:37. Jesus answered “Who is my neighbour?” with a story. Who is a neighbour you could help this week, maybe someone you usually pass by?
“I Am the Good Shepherd”
Talk about it: John 7:17 promises that we come to know truth by living it. What is one gospel truth you understand better because you tried living it?
“Rejoice with Me; for I Have Found My Sheep Which Was Lost”
Talk about it: Luke 15:20. The father ran to meet his son before the son had even finished his apology. What does that teach you about how Heavenly Father feels when we come back?
“What Lack I Yet?”
Talk about it: Matthew 19:20. The young man asked the Savior a brave question. If you asked the Lord that in prayer this week, what might He say?
“Behold, Thy King Cometh”
Talk about it: Matthew 22:36–39 gives the two great commandments. Which one feels easier for you right now? How does keeping one help you keep the other?
“The Son of Man Shall Come”
Talk about it: In the parable of the ten virgins, oil couldn’t be borrowed at the last minute (Matthew 25:8–9). What “oil” are you adding to your lamp a little at a time?
“In Remembrance”
Talk about it: Jesus washed His disciples’ feet (John 13:14–15). What is a quiet way you could serve someone like that this week?
“Continue Ye in My Love”
Talk about it: John 15:4–5. A branch can’t bear fruit by itself. What helps you stay connected to the Savior day to day?
“Not My Will, but Thine, Be Done”
Talk about it: Luke 22:42. When have you had to choose God’s will over your own? What helped you do it?
“It Is Finished”
Talk about it: Luke 23:34. Even on the cross, Jesus forgave and cared for His mother. What does that show you about His love for you?
“He Is Risen”
Talk about it: Luke 24:32. The two disciples felt their hearts burn as Jesus taught them. When have you felt something like that while learning about Him?
“Ye Shall Be Witnesses unto Me”
Talk about it: Acts 1:8. The Savior sent His witnesses to start in Jerusalem and go outward from there. Where is your “Jerusalem,” the place you can start?
“What Wilt Thou Have Me to Do?”
Talk about it: Acts 9:6. Saul’s whole life changed when he asked this. Try asking it in prayer this week. What do you think He might tell you?
“The Word of God Grew and Multiplied”
Talk about it: Acts 10:34. Peter learned that the gospel is for everyone. How can you help everyone in your school or class feel they belong?
“The Lord Had Called Us for to Preach the Gospel”
Talk about it: Paul and Silas prayed and sang praises at midnight in prison (Acts 16:25). What helps you find light during your own “midnight” moments?
“Be of Good Cheer … : Thou Hast Testified of Me”
Talk about it: Acts 23:11. On a hard night, “the Lord stood by him.” When have you felt the Lord near you during something difficult?
“The Power of God unto Salvation”
Talk about it: Romans 1:16. Where is it hard for you to be unashamed of the gospel? What helps?
“Overcome Evil with Good”
Talk about it: Romans 8:28. When has something hard in your life turned out to work for your good?
“Be Perfectly Joined Together”
Talk about it: 1 Corinthians 6:19–20. How does seeing your body as a temple change how you treat it, and how you talk about it?
“Ye Are the Body of Christ”
Talk about it: 1 Corinthians 12. The eye can’t say to the hand, “I have no need of thee.” Who in your class or ward might feel like they don’t matter? How could you help?
“In Christ Shall All Be Made Alive”
Talk about it: 1 Corinthians 15:58. Paul promised that our “labour is not in vain in the Lord.” Where do you need that reminder right now?
“Be Ye Reconciled to God”
Talk about it: 2 Corinthians 5:17. In Christ, we can become “a new creature.” What would you like the Savior to make new in you?
“God Loveth a Cheerful Giver”
Talk about it: 2 Corinthians 12:9–10. What weakness are you working on right now? How might the Savior’s grace show up there?
“Walk in the Spirit”
Talk about it: Galatians 5:22–23. Which fruit of the Spirit do you see growing in your life? Which one would you like to grow next?
“Gather Together in One All Things in Christ”
Talk about it: Ephesians 6:11–17. Which piece of the armour of God do you most need to put on this week, and how?
“I Can Do All Things through Christ Which Strengtheneth Me”
Talk about it: Philippians 4:13. What “all things” are you facing right now where you need Christ’s strength?
“Perfect That Which Is Lacking in Your Faith”
Talk about it: 1 Thessalonians 5:18. Name three things you’re grateful for today, including one that’s been hard.
“Be Thou an Example of the Believers”
Talk about it: 1 Timothy 4:12. “Let no man despise thy youth.” Where can you be an example of a believer right now, at your age?
“Come Boldly unto the Throne of Grace”
Talk about it: Hebrews 4:15–16. Jesus was tempted in all points like we are. How does that change the way you pray when you’re struggling?
“An High Priest of Good Things to Come”
Talk about it: Hebrews 11 lists ordinary people who acted in faith. If your name were in that chapter, what would your “By faith ___” line say this year?
“Be Ye Doers of the Word, and Not Hearers Only”
Talk about it: James 1:5–6. Joseph Smith acted on this verse at age 14. What question would you like to ask God in prayer this week?
“Rejoice with Joy Unspeakable and Full of Glory”
Talk about it: 1 Peter 2:9. How does knowing you’re part of “a chosen generation” shape the way you treat yourself and others?
“God Is Love”
Talk about it: 1 John 4:19. How have you felt God’s love reach you first, before you had done anything to earn it?
“Glory, and Power, Be unto … the Lamb for Ever”
Talk about it: Revelation 3:20. What helps you hear the Savior knocking, and what helps you open the door?
“They Overcame … by the Blood of the Lamb”
Talk about it: Revelation 12:11. The Saints overcame “by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony.” How does sharing your testimony help you and others?
“He That Overcometh Shall Inherit All Things”
Talk about it: Revelation 21:4. Which promise in Revelation gives you the most hope, and why?
“Good Tidings of Great Joy”
Talk about it: The wise men brought gifts to Jesus. What gift could you give the Savior this Christmas?
