Joseph B. Wirthlin lived these principles. He chose missionary service over continuing his football career, serving in Europe from 1937 to 1939. Later, he built a successful career, raised a family, served in numerous Church callings, and was called to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles in 1986. He continued serving faithfully until his death in 2008 at age 91.
