A short history of the area
The city has faced major natural disasters, including catastrophic flooding from Tropical Storm Uring in 1991 and widespread destruction from Typhoon Haiyan in 2013. Today, Ormoc is the second-most populous city in Leyte and is known for agriculture, geothermal power, and natural attractions.
