Hesed (חֶסֶד) — Covenant Love, Mercy & Strength Through Christ

Some words are difficult to translate because their meaning is bigger than a single English word. Hesed (חֶסֶד) is one of them.

This beautiful Hebrew word is often associated with lovingkindness, mercy, steadfast love, faithfulness, goodness, and covenant loyalty. Throughout the Old Testament, hesed is used to describe a kind of love that is dependable and enduring—the faithful love God extends toward His covenant people.

For members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, covenants are central to our relationship with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. We make covenants to follow the Savior, remember Him, keep His commandments, and serve God's children. Hesed reminds us that covenant living isn't merely about checking spiritual boxes.
