Some burdens aren't meant to be carried alone.

The Bear Burdens graphic from WeakThings is inspired by two powerful moments in the Book of Mormon—Mosiah 18and Mosiah 24—where the Lord teaches His people what it really means to carry one another.

In Mosiah 18, Alma teaches those who desire to follow Christ to “bear one another’s burdens, that they may be light.”They covenant to mourn with those who mourn, comfort those who stand in need of comfort, and stand as witnesses of God. That's not passive discipleship. That's showing up.

Then comes Mosiah 24.

Alma and his people are being oppressed by Amulon. Their burdens become so heavy that they are commanded not even to cry out. Yet the Lord doesn't simply make the problem disappear. Instead, He strengthens Alma's people so they can bear their burdens with greater ease. Eventually, the Lord delivers them from bondage—but first, He teaches them that His strength can make heavy things bearable.

That's the WeakThings message.

You don't have to be strong enough on your own.

Sometimes strength looks like carrying someone else's load. Sometimes it looks like letting someone carry yours. And sometimes the Lord doesn't immediately remove the burden—He makes you stronger than the burden.

The Bear Burdens design is a reminder to look around, find someone who is struggling, and help carry the load.

Because weak things can become strong.

And sometimes we become strong by helping someone else stand.
