Getting Ready for the New Testament in 2027: Free Games for Every Week of Come, Follow Me

Free Come, Follow Me 2027 New Testament games for families and classes

In 2027, members of the Church around the world will study the New Testament together. The Church announced that "Come, Follow Me—For Home and Church: New Testament" will be the main study resource for 2027. The 2027 manual is already in Gospel Library.

Reading together is the heart of it. But anyone who has tried to hold a ten-year-old's attention through Matthew knows that a little play helps. We built free games that follow the 2027 schedule week by week, so your family can read the chapters and then play a game about what you just read.

Here is what is ready, how each game works and how to fit them into a normal week.

The 2027 schedule at a glance

The New Testament year starts a few days before New Year's. Based on the published 2027 Come, Follow Me reading schedule, the first weeks look like this:

Week Reading Lesson title
December 28–January 3 Matthew 1; Luke 1 Be It unto Me According to Thy Word
January 4–10 Matthew 2; Luke 2 We Have Come to Worship Him
January 11–17 John 1 We Have Found the Messiah
January 18–24 Matthew 3; Mark 1; Luke 3 Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord
January 25–31 Matthew 4; Luke 4–5 The Spirit of the Lord Is upon Me

Always check the dates against your own copy of the manual. Every game below also works in any year you study the New Testament.

Family Showdown: a new game every week

Family Showdown is our biggest New Testament game. Each week has its own game built from that week's chapters. Everyone answers at their own level:

  • Little ones (ages 3–7): two big picture answers, with the question read aloud
  • Kids (ages 8–11): three choices
  • Teens and adults: four choices

The same game, two levels. Left: a Kids question about the wise men's gifts. Right: a Little ones picture question about Elisabeth's baby.

Each game has six rounds: a warm-up, two rounds on this week's chapters, a sneak peek at next week, a bonus act-it-out challenge, and a double-points Final Showdown. You can play in teams on one TV, have everyone answer on their own phone, or choose Play together for a gentle, no-score version for little ones. Every answer links to its verse.

The Weekly Recap: five minutes after you read

If Family Showdown is the big Monday-night event, the Come, Follow Me Weekly Recap is the quick check-in. Pick a week, and you get 5–8 questions on that week's reading. There are 52 weeks in all, and every answer links to the verse.

Left: choose any of the 52 weeks, labeled with the 2027 dates and lesson titles. Right: a question from the first week, Matthew 1 and Luke 1.

It's a natural fit at the end of a Sunday study or at the start of a Primary or youth class. Students who did the reading feel the payoff. Students who didn't get a short tour of the chapters and a link to read more.

Verse Quest: one verse a day

For daily study, Verse Quest: New Testament gives everyone the same verse each day. You have six guesses to find the book and chapter. Each miss shows a nearby verse as a clue, and a "Book only" mode is easier for kids and newer readers. It takes about two minutes, and it builds the habit of opening the scriptures every day. The full guide is in A Daily Scripture Puzzle Like Wordle: Meet Verse Quest.

Games for the big stories of the New Testament

The New Testament games page has 15 free games. These are the ones families come back to as the year moves through the Gospels and Acts:

New Testament Who Said It? quiz with Matthew 26:35 feedback and the first stop of Acts Adventure
Left: Who Said It? shows the verse and a reading link after every answer. Right: Acts Adventure begins with the Ascension.

Holy Week and Easter 2027

Easter falls on March 28, 2027. The Holy Week Countdown walks day by day from Palm Sunday to Easter morning. Each day has a short summary, a verse and two quiz questions. The page notes that the day-by-day order follows Mark and common Christian tradition, since the scriptures don't date every event.

Holy Week Countdown to Easter 2027 and the Miracle Map New Testament geography game
Left: the Holy Week Countdown counts down to Easter, March 28, 2027, with a card for each day. Right: Miracle Map shows each miracle's location.

A simple weekly rhythm

  1. Sunday: Read the week's chapters together, using the Come, Follow Me manual.
  2. Every day: Everyone plays Verse Quest and compares scores at dinner.
  3. Monday night: Play the week's Family Showdown. Use the discussion question at the end.
  4. Saturday: Play the Weekly Recap to see what stuck.

The games are there to support the reading, not replace it. Each one is built so that the fastest way to win is to know the verses.
