Doctrine and Covenants 126 Take especial care of your family

Brigham Young had spent nearly two years preaching in England and returned to Nauvoo on July 1, 1841. Eight days later, on July 9, Joseph Smith dictated this revelation for him at Young’s home. The Lord affirmed Young’s earlier service and released him from the expectation of leaving his family for extended travels. He was told to continue sharing the gospel while caring especially for his family.

  1. Dear and well-beloved brother, Brigham Young, verily thus saith the Lord unto you: My servant Brigham, it is no more required at your hand to leave your family as in times past, for your offering is acceptable to me.
  2. I have seen your labor and toil in journeyings for my name.
  3. I therefore command you to send my word abroad, and take especial care of your family from this time, henceforth and forever. Amen.
