Doctrine and Covenants 19 “I have suffered these things for all”
This revelation was directed to Martin Harris and is best dated to the summer of 1829. Before it was given, Harris and Joseph Smith had spoken with printers in Palmyra and Rochester about printing the Book of Mormon, and they settled on E. B. Grandin of Palmyra. The Lord taught about repentance, the Savior’s suffering, and the meaning of “endless punishment,” then gave Harris direct counsel about helping pay for the printing. Grandin’s price for printing 5,000 copies was $3,000, so the printing commitment called for a substantial contribution from Harris.

How these connections are counted
Sources. Scripture text is the public-domain English text of the Doctrine and Covenants (sections 1–138). Section summaries, headings and questions are Weak Things’ own; the Church’s copyrighted headings and footnotes are not used. Joseph Smith Papers links point to the exact manuscript and printed pages. Connections come from the scripture links in every general conference talk from April 2000 through October 2026.
Distinct talks, not mentions. Each talk counts once per verse. Badges show whether the talk cites this exact verse or a passage that includes it, and whether the link is in a footnote or the talk text. Frequency is not a measure of doctrinal importance.
Your own words, their link. Summaries are Weak Things’ own. Talk text, Joseph Smith Papers images and transcriptions are not reproduced; every card links to the original. This independent study tool does not speak for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
