Doctrine and Covenants 41 Agree upon my word

On February 4, 1831, Joseph Smith arrived in Kirtland, Ohio, as Church members were gathering there in response to earlier revelations. The section gives the elders direction about receiving the Lord’s law and governing the Church, and it addresses housing for Joseph and Sidney Rigdon and a new calling for Edward Partridge. John Whitmer’s later note connects the revelation to Joseph’s prayer about an offer from Leman Copley, but the revelation itself does not mention that offer. Confusion among some members about sharing property, a concern that later histories associated with this period.

How these connections are counted

Sources. Scripture text is the public-domain English text of the Doctrine and Covenants (sections 1–138). Section summaries, headings and questions are Weak Things’ own; the Church’s copyrighted headings and footnotes are not used. Joseph Smith Papers links point to the exact manuscript and printed pages. Connections come from the scripture links in every general conference talk from April 2000 through October 2026.

Distinct talks, not mentions. Each talk counts once per verse. Badges show whether the talk cites this exact verse or a passage that includes it, and whether the link is in a footnote or the talk text. Frequency is not a measure of doctrinal importance.

Your own words, their link. Summaries are Weak Things’ own. Talk text, Joseph Smith Papers images and transcriptions are not reproduced; every card links to the original. This independent study tool does not speak for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
