Doctrine and Covenants 74 Little children are holy
This explanation addresses Paul’s words about an unbelieving spouse and holy children in 1 Corinthians 7:14, a passage that had been used to support infant baptism. It describes how circumcision and family traditions shaped the dispute, then teaches that children are holy through the atonement of Jesus Christ. The exact circumstances and date of the explanation are uncertain. John Whitmer copied it into Revelation Book 1 in 1831 and dated it simply “1830.”

Sources. Scripture text is the public-domain English text of the Doctrine and Covenants (sections 1–138). Section summaries, headings and questions are Weak Things’ own; the Church’s copyrighted headings and footnotes are not used. Joseph Smith Papers links point to the exact manuscript and printed pages. Connections come from the scripture links in every general conference talk from April 2000 through October 2026.
Distinct talks, not mentions. Each talk counts once per verse. Badges show whether the talk cites this exact verse or a passage that includes it, and whether the link is in a footnote or the talk text. Frequency is not a measure of doctrinal importance.
