Doctrine and Covenants 82 Bound together by a bond and covenant

On April 26, 1832, church leaders met in council in Independence, Jackson County, Missouri. This revelation was dictated during the second half of the council’s first day, as leaders addressed a disagreement between Sidney Rigdon and Edward Partridge. The Lord first calls the group to forgive one another and turn away from sin, then gives direction for joining their church business responsibilities in a covenant. The revelation also speaks of Kirtland and Zion and teaches that stewardship should benefit the whole church.

How these connections are counted

Sources. Scripture text is the public-domain English text of the Doctrine and Covenants (sections 1–138). Section summaries, headings and questions are Weak Things’ own; the Church’s copyrighted headings and footnotes are not used. Joseph Smith Papers links point to the exact manuscript and printed pages. Connections come from the scripture links in every general conference talk from April 2000 through October 2026.

Distinct talks, not mentions. Each talk counts once per verse. Badges show whether the talk cites this exact verse or a passage that includes it, and whether the link is in a footnote or the talk text. Frequency is not a measure of doctrinal importance.
