Painting the Savior

After his wife, Joycel, and their oldest daughter died in a car accident in 1978, he felt inspired to paint mostly religious subjects. In 1983 the Church commissioned his first portrait of Jesus, often called Christ in Red Robe. The Church has since commissioned more than 240 of his works.
