Book of Mormon, Connected: Every Verse, Every Conference Talk, and the Sketch Notes That Help You See It
A free, visual Book of Mormon reader that links all 6,604 verses to the General Conference talks that cite them,…
There are some things you can explain to just about anyone.
And then there are some things that only another Latter-day Saint is going to understand.
You know what we're talking about.
The look you get when someone says, "We need a volunteer."
The immediate recognition of a phrase you've heard approximately 4,000 times at Church.
The fact that a completely ordinary sentence can have an entirely different meaning once you put it on an LDS T-shirt.
That's part of what makes creating Latter-day Saint apparel so much fun.
At WeakThings, we're not interested in making shirts that simply say "LDS" across the front and calling it a day. We're Latter-day Saints ourselves, and we make apparel around the faith, humor, culture, scriptures, experiences, and inside jokes that make our community what it is.
Here are a few of our favorites.
The phrase Choose the Right is about as familiar as it gets in Latter-day Saint culture.
But what happens when you give that phrase a little more personality?
Our Choose the Right design takes a phrase every Latter-day Saint knows and turns it into something you can actually wear as a piece of everyday apparel.
It's familiar enough that another member will recognize it immediately.
But it's still a shirt.
And that's kind of the point.
Some phrases have become part of the vocabulary of modern Latter-day Saint life.
Covenant Path is one of them.
Put it on a shirt, and suddenly something that sounds like a phrase from a Church lesson becomes something you can wear to school, the gym, a youth activity, or your next family gathering.
It's a little more subtle than a traditional Church shirt.
Which is exactly why we like it.
Remember those old Choose Your Own Adventure books?
We took the idea and gave it a Latter-day Saint twist.
Choose Your Own Adventure: Walk Boldly, Live Faithfully is part inspirational message, part adventure shirt, and part reminder that faith is something you actually have to live.
It's also a good example of what we like to do at WeakThings:
Take something familiar.
Turn it sideways.
Add a little personality.
Make a shirt out of it.
Our name comes from one of our favorite scriptures:
"And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness."
—Ether 12:27
The idea behind WeakThings isn't that weakness is something to be embarrassed about.
It's that weakness can become the starting point for growth.
That's why our tagline is:
Weak Things Become Strong.
We like shirts that can make you laugh, but we also like shirts that make you think.
Sometimes the best message is one that does both.
The phrase Rejoice in Christ is the 2027 youth theme, but there are a lot of ways to put that message on a shirt.
That's why we created the Rejoice in Christ collection.
One message can have completely different personalities.
For example, the Smiley Rejoice in Christ design is bright and playful.
The White Script Rejoice in Christ design takes a much cleaner approach.
The Brush Stroke Rejoice in Christ design feels more artistic.
And the Sunrise Rejoice in Christ design takes the message in another direction entirely.
That's one of the things we love about apparel.
The message can stay the same.
The personality can change completely.
One of the great things about LDS humor is that you don't always need a punchline.
Sometimes recognition is enough.
A good LDS shirt can make another member look at you, pause for half a second, and then say:
"Oh, that's good."
That's the reaction we're after.
Not a giant explanation.
Not a paragraph printed on the back.
Just that little moment when someone gets it.
Latter-day Saint culture is full of things that seem completely normal to us but might sound pretty strange to someone outside the Church.
Youth conferences.
Temple trips.
Trek.
Mission farewells.
Ward activities.
Stake conferences.
Family history.
Food storage.
Green Jello.
Three-hour Church.
And approximately 9,000 different ways to get asked to volunteer.
That's a lot of material.
And we're not running out anytime soon.
Some designs are meaningful.
Some are clever.
And some just make you smile.
Our Dr. Nelson design falls into that last category.
It's the kind of shirt that makes sense immediately to someone familiar with Latter-day Saint culture.
And if you're not?
Well... that's part of the fun.
This is something we care about a lot at WeakThings.
We make LDS apparel, but we don't think every LDS shirt needs to look like it came from the Church bookstore.
We want designs that look like real clothing.
Something you'd wear because you like the design—not simply because you belong to the Church.
That might mean vintage typography.
A bold graphic.
A funny concept.
A subtle scripture reference.
A design that only another Latter-day Saint will understand.
Or something completely unexpected.
Here's our favorite thing about making LDS apparel:
We don't have to stop with the designs already on the website.
If you have an idea for an LDS shirt, tell us.
Maybe it's a phrase your Young Men came up with.
Maybe it's an inside joke from Girls Camp.
Maybe your family has a ridiculous saying that deserves to be on a shirt.
Maybe your stake youth council has an idea for Youth Conference.
Maybe you've had a shirt idea in your head for three years and never knew what to do with it.
We can build it.
That's especially true for LDS group orders.
You don't have to pick an existing design.
You can start with an idea, tell us what you're imagining, and we'll turn that idea into artwork.
And yes, you can let the youth have a say in the process.
WeakThings exists because we like this stuff.
We like the scriptures.
We like the Church.
We like the humor.
We like the weird little cultural references that another Latter-day Saint understands immediately.
We like making shirts that say something meaningful.
And we like making shirts that are just plain funny.
Most of all, we like the idea that faith doesn't have to be boring.
We're members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and LDS apparel is what we do.
So if you see a WeakThings shirt and think:
"That's hilarious."
Good.
If you see one and think:
"That's actually meaningful."
Also good.
And if you see one and think:
"I wish that said something different..."
Even better.
We might just make a shirt out of it.
