Doctrine and Covenants 108 Let your soul be at rest
On December 26, 1835, Lyman Sherman asked Joseph Smith for a revelation to help him understand his duty. Sherman had joined the Church in 1832, marched to Missouri with the Camp of Israel in 1834, and was named one of the seven presidents of the Seventy in February 1835. The Lord reassured him, promised future opportunity to preach, and urged him to strengthen his fellow Saints. Joseph Smith dictated the revelation, and Frederick G. Williams later copied it into Smith’s journal.

How these connections are counted
Sources. Scripture text is the public-domain English text of the Doctrine and Covenants (sections 1–138). Section summaries, headings and questions are Weak Things’ own; the Church’s copyrighted headings and footnotes are not used. Joseph Smith Papers links point to the exact manuscript and printed pages. Connections come from the scripture links in every general conference talk from April 2000 through October 2026.
Distinct talks, not mentions. Each talk counts once per verse. Badges show whether the talk cites this exact verse or a passage that includes it, and whether the link is in a footnote or the talk text. Frequency is not a measure of doctrinal importance.
