Doctrine and Covenants 2 Turn to their fathers

This section preserves words Moroni spoke to Joseph Smith during Moroni’s first visit. Moroni taught that Elijah would come before the Lord’s great day, bringing a work that would turn family hearts toward one another. Joseph’s family was living in a log home in Palmyra, New York, at the time of the visit. The prophecy connects the Lord’s work in the last days with promises made to earlier generations.

How these connections are counted

Sources. Scripture text is the public-domain English text of the Doctrine and Covenants (sections 1–138). Section summaries, headings and questions are Weak Things’ own; the Church’s copyrighted headings and footnotes are not used. Joseph Smith Papers links point to the exact manuscript and printed pages. Connections come from the scripture links in every general conference talk from April 2000 through October 2026.

Distinct talks, not mentions. Each talk counts once per verse. Badges show whether the talk cites this exact verse or a passage that includes it, and whether the link is in a footnote or the talk text. Frequency is not a measure of doctrinal importance.

Your own words, their link. Summaries are Weak Things’ own. Talk text, Joseph Smith Papers images and transcriptions are not reproduced; every card links to the original. This independent study tool does not speak for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
