Doctrine and Covenants 3 The work of God cannot be frustrated
In 1828, Joseph Smith dictated a portion of the Book of Mormon translation in Harmony, Pennsylvania, while Martin Harris wrote it down. Harris took the manuscript to Palmyra, New York, and it was lost. After Joseph learned what had happened, this revelation addressed his sorrow and choices, warning him to repent while assuring him that he could still return to the work. It also declares that the Book of Mormon record was preserved to help people come to know the Lord and the promises of the gospel.

How these connections are counted
Sources. Scripture text is the public-domain English text of the Doctrine and Covenants (sections 1–138). Section summaries, headings and questions are Weak Things’ own; the Church’s copyrighted headings and footnotes are not used. Joseph Smith Papers links point to the exact manuscript and printed pages. Connections come from the scripture links in every general conference talk from April 2000 through October 2026.
Distinct talks, not mentions. Each talk counts once per verse. Badges show whether the talk cites this exact verse or a passage that includes it, and whether the link is in a footnote or the talk text. Frequency is not a measure of doctrinal importance.
Your own words, their link. Summaries are Weak Things’ own. Talk text, Joseph Smith Papers images and transcriptions are not reproduced; every card links to the original. This independent study tool does not speak for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
