Doctrine and Covenants 4 A marvelous work

In early 1829, Joseph Smith was preparing to resume translating the Book of Mormon in Harmony, Pennsylvania. Joseph Smith Sr. had come to Harmony with Joseph Knight Sr. and Samuel Smith, and Knight helped provide money for paper. The Lord’s message for Joseph Smith Sr. described the work ahead and offered counsel for serving faithfully. A fuller surviving copy of the revelation is in Edward Partridge’s handwriting.

How these connections are counted

Sources. Scripture text is the public-domain English text of the Doctrine and Covenants (sections 1–138). Section summaries, headings and questions are Weak Things’ own; the Church’s copyrighted headings and footnotes are not used. Joseph Smith Papers links point to the exact manuscript and printed pages. Connections come from the scripture links in every general conference talk from April 2000 through October 2026.

Distinct talks, not mentions. Each talk counts once per verse. Badges show whether the talk cites this exact verse or a passage that includes it, and whether the link is in a footnote or the talk text. Frequency is not a measure of doctrinal importance.
