Doctrine and Covenants 24 Magnify thine office
In June 1830, Joseph Smith and others traveled to Colesville, where Emma Smith and other believers were baptized. Joseph was arrested twice during the visit and later returned to Harmony, Pennsylvania. This revelation, given in July 1830, instructed Joseph about his ministry and also gave counsel about Oliver Cowdery’s preaching. It speaks to the challenges of serving the new Church, including opposition, daily needs, and the work of teaching and confirming members.

How these connections are counted
Sources. Scripture text is the public-domain English text of the Doctrine and Covenants (sections 1–138). Section summaries, headings and questions are Weak Things’ own; the Church’s copyrighted headings and footnotes are not used. Joseph Smith Papers links point to the exact manuscript and printed pages. Connections come from the scripture links in every general conference talk from April 2000 through October 2026.
Distinct talks, not mentions. Each talk counts once per verse. Badges show whether the talk cites this exact verse or a passage that includes it, and whether the link is in a footnote or the talk text. Frequency is not a measure of doctrinal importance.
