Doctrine and Covenants 23 Strengthen the church
Soon after the Church of Christ was organized on April 6, 1830, five people wanted to know what the Lord expected of them. Joseph Smith dictated a short revelation for each of them, probably one after another, in the days before an April 11 meeting. The counsel gives each person a particular way to serve: preaching, exhorting, strengthening the church, or praying openly and privately. The five revelations were later brought together as one section.

How these connections are counted
Sources. Scripture text is the public-domain English text of the Doctrine and Covenants (sections 1–138). Section summaries, headings and questions are Weak Things’ own; the Church’s copyrighted headings and footnotes are not used. Joseph Smith Papers links point to the exact manuscript and printed pages. Connections come from the scripture links in every general conference talk from April 2000 through October 2026.
Distinct talks, not mentions. Each talk counts once per verse. Badges show whether the talk cites this exact verse or a passage that includes it, and whether the link is in a footnote or the talk text. Frequency is not a measure of doctrinal importance.
Your own words, their link. Summaries are Weak Things’ own. Talk text, Joseph Smith Papers images and transcriptions are not reproduced; every card links to the original. This independent study tool does not speak for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
