Doctrine and Covenants 38 If ye are prepared ye shall not fear
On January 2, 1831, church members met in conference in Fayette, New York, three days after an earlier revelation told them to gather in Ohio. Members wanted to know more about that command, so Joseph Smith inquired of the Lord in front of the congregation. The Lord promised guidance, protection, and a land of inheritance, while teaching the Saints to be united and care for one another. The revelation also gave instructions for preparing to move and for helping the poor and managing church property.

How these connections are counted
Sources. Scripture text is the public-domain English text of the Doctrine and Covenants (sections 1–138). Section summaries, headings and questions are Weak Things’ own; the Church’s copyrighted headings and footnotes are not used. Joseph Smith Papers links point to the exact manuscript and printed pages. Connections come from the scripture links in every general conference talk from April 2000 through October 2026.
Distinct talks, not mentions. Each talk counts once per verse. Badges show whether the talk cites this exact verse or a passage that includes it, and whether the link is in a footnote or the talk text. Frequency is not a measure of doctrinal importance.
