Doctrine and Covenants 46 That all may be profited thereby
In early 1831, Joseph Smith was in Ohio working to bring order to growing congregations. John Whitmer later explained that some members had been excluding unbelievers from meetings, in part because of their reading of the Book of Mormon. The Lord’s revelation corrected that practice and taught that sincere seekers should be welcomed. It also described spiritual gifts and instructed leaders to discern them, while warning members to seek God’s guidance and give thanks.

How these connections are counted
Sources. Scripture text is the public-domain English text of the Doctrine and Covenants (sections 1–138). Section summaries, headings and questions are Weak Things’ own; the Church’s copyrighted headings and footnotes are not used. Joseph Smith Papers links point to the exact manuscript and printed pages. Connections come from the scripture links in every general conference talk from April 2000 through October 2026.
Distinct talks, not mentions. Each talk counts once per verse. Badges show whether the talk cites this exact verse or a passage that includes it, and whether the link is in a footnote or the talk text. Frequency is not a measure of doctrinal importance.
Your own words, their link. Summaries are Weak Things’ own. Talk text, Joseph Smith Papers images and transcriptions are not reproduced; every card links to the original. This independent study tool does not speak for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
