Doctrine and Covenants 59 A day appointed unto you
On August 7, 1831, Joseph Smith dictated this revelation in Missouri for people who had come there to help build Zion. It gave practical direction about keeping the Sabbath, worshipping, fasting, praying, and giving thanks. The instruction came as Latter-day Saints were settling in Jackson County, where Sabbath customs differed from those many members had known in the Northeast. The revelation also promised blessings in this life and the next to those who live faithfully.

How these connections are counted
Sources. Scripture text is the public-domain English text of the Doctrine and Covenants (sections 1–138). Section summaries, headings and questions are Weak Things’ own; the Church’s copyrighted headings and footnotes are not used. Joseph Smith Papers links point to the exact manuscript and printed pages. Connections come from the scripture links in every general conference talk from April 2000 through October 2026.
Distinct talks, not mentions. Each talk counts once per verse. Badges show whether the talk cites this exact verse or a passage that includes it, and whether the link is in a footnote or the talk text. Frequency is not a measure of doctrinal importance.
Your own words, their link. Summaries are Weak Things’ own. Talk text, Joseph Smith Papers images and transcriptions are not reproduced; every card links to the original. This independent study tool does not speak for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
