Doctrine and Covenants 78 A bond or everlasting covenant
On March 1, 1832, Joseph Smith dictated this revelation in Kirtland to a group of high priests. Church members had gathered in Jackson County, Missouri, and the need for money to buy land had become pressing. Church leaders were also beginning to organize the work of publishing revelations, alongside mercantile efforts. The Lord’s counsel addresses how these efforts could be organized to help the poor, support the church, and prepare the Saints for greater blessings.

How these connections are counted
Sources. Scripture text is the public-domain English text of the Doctrine and Covenants (sections 1–138). Section summaries, headings and questions are Weak Things’ own; the Church’s copyrighted headings and footnotes are not used. Joseph Smith Papers links point to the exact manuscript and printed pages. Connections come from the scripture links in every general conference talk from April 2000 through October 2026.
Distinct talks, not mentions. Each talk counts once per verse. Badges show whether the talk cites this exact verse or a passage that includes it, and whether the link is in a footnote or the talk text. Frequency is not a measure of doctrinal importance.
