Doctrine and Covenants 79 Crown him again with sheaves
Jared Carter had spent much of late 1831 and early 1832 preaching in Ohio. After returning to Amherst, he went to Hiram to ask the Seer about his ministry in the coming season. On March 12, 1832, Joseph Smith dictated this revelation, directing Carter to preach again in the eastern United States and promising the Lord’s help. Carter left on his new mission on April 15, likely with the original revelation or a copy.

How these connections are counted
Sources. Scripture text is the public-domain English text of the Doctrine and Covenants (sections 1–138). Section summaries, headings and questions are Weak Things’ own; the Church’s copyrighted headings and footnotes are not used. Joseph Smith Papers links point to the exact manuscript and printed pages. Connections come from the scripture links in every general conference talk from April 2000 through October 2026.
Distinct talks, not mentions. Each talk counts once per verse. Badges show whether the talk cites this exact verse or a passage that includes it, and whether the link is in a footnote or the talk text. Frequency is not a measure of doctrinal importance.
