Jesus sits at the center of a long table, and an arched window opens behind Him to a bright evening sky, so His head is framed in daylight. The apostles turn toward each other, troubled by what He has just said.

In the right foreground, a red-bearded man clutches his cloak and walks away from the table into the dark. Commons titles this image “Judas retiring from The Last Supper.” Bloch puts the betrayal and the sacrament in the same room.
