Doctrine and Covenants 31 Thrust in your sickle
Thomas B. Marsh had learned about the Book of Mormon in 1829 and moved with his family to Palmyra in September 1830. Shortly before this revelation, David Whitmer baptized Marsh and Oliver Cowdery ordained him an elder. As Marsh prepared to preach, the Lord addressed his concerns about leaving his family and promised to bless them. Marsh stayed in New York until spring 1831, when he urged relatives in Massachusetts to join the believers.

How these connections are counted
Sources. Scripture text is the public-domain English text of the Doctrine and Covenants (sections 1–138). Section summaries, headings and questions are Weak Things’ own; the Church’s copyrighted headings and footnotes are not used. Joseph Smith Papers links point to the exact manuscript and printed pages. Connections come from the scripture links in every general conference talk from April 2000 through October 2026.
Distinct talks, not mentions. Each talk counts once per verse. Badges show whether the talk cites this exact verse or a passage that includes it, and whether the link is in a footnote or the talk text. Frequency is not a measure of doctrinal importance.
Your own words, their link. Summaries are Weak Things’ own. Talk text, Joseph Smith Papers images and transcriptions are not reproduced; every card links to the original. This independent study tool does not speak for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
