Psalm 23 The LORD is my shepherd

David’s psalm of trust in the Lord as shepherd and host. The shepherd provides, leads, restores and protects through the darkest valley; then the host spreads a table and anoints the guest. Shepherd language was used in the ancient Near East for kings and gods, and Jesus takes it up as the Good Shepherd.

How these connections are counted

Sources. Scripture text is the King James Version (public domain). Hebrew is the Westminster Leningrad Codex (public domain) with STEPBible tagging and lexicon data (CC BY 4.0). Old Testament cross references come from OpenBible.info (CC BY). Connections come from the scripture links in every general conference talk from April 2000 through October 2026, plus scripture lists in Weak Things sketch notes for selected apostles’ talks from 1971–1999. Latter-day Saint scholarship, other Christian commentaries, Jewish interpretation and historical sources are labeled separately.

Distinct talks, not mentions. Each talk counts once per verse. Badges show whether the talk cites this exact verse or a passage that includes it, and whether the link is in a footnote or the talk text. Frequency is not a measure of doctrinal importance.

Your own words, their link. Summaries are Weak Things’ own. Talk text is not reproduced; every card links to the original talk on the Church’s site. This independent study tool does not speak for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
