CALLING.

Because apparently the Lord looked at your list of weaknesses, your questionable organizational skills, and your complete lack of experience—and thought, “Yep. That one.” 😂

That’s part of the beauty of serving in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Callings rarely come because we already know exactly what we’re doing. They come with an invitation to learn, stretch, serve, rely on the Savior, and discover that we can do more with His help than we could ever do on our own.

President Dieter F. Uchtdorf taught that the “why” of priesthood service is where we discover its fire, passion, and power. The assignment tells us what to do; understanding the eternal purpose behind our service changes the way we do it. Church of Jesus Christ

And sometimes the best way to learn the why is simply to say yes, take a deep breath, pray a lot, make a few mistakes, repent when necessary, and keep moving forward.

There is joy in watching the Lord turn an uncomfortable assignment into a spiritual experience. Joy in learning something you didn't know. Joy in realizing that your weaknesses don't disqualify you from serving—they can become the very reason you learn to depend more fully on Jesus Christ.

Uchtdorf also taught that the Church is built and served by ordinary members—the “weak and the simple”—rather than professional clergy. Church of Jesus Christ That's very much the WeakThings philosophy: we don't have to be perfect to be useful.

Accept the calling. Learn as you go. Trust the Savior. Serve with what you've got.

Because sometimes the calling isn't just something you're asked to fulfill.

It's something you're asked to grow into.
