Lesson 182 · Physical Health and Emotional Health

Caring for Our Physical Bodies

Help students view their physical bodies from Heavenly Father’s perspective.

Teach from the manual first

The lesson comes from the Church’s seminary manual

Use the official lesson as written. These activities take a few minutes to open or review class, and the send-home card helps families reinforce what was taught.

Our bodies are temples of God where the Holy Ghost may dwell.

Review

Caring for my temple

Gratitude and one or two care habits, privately on each phone.

Teacher note: The manual reminds teachers: you don’t need to be a mental health expert. If students share personal struggles, reassure them that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love them, and encourage them to seek counsel from parents, Church leaders, school counselors or other emotional health professionals. These activities use no scores and no shared free text; reflection stays on each student’s phone. The manual suggests teaching this near Lesson 108 (1 Corinthians 6). If body image concerns affect a student’s health or safety, encourage them to talk with a parent or trusted adult.

Send home

Treat it as sacred

Send this to your class chat after the lesson. Students and parents can open the story and resources at home, alone or with family.

“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?”1 Corinthians 6:19

Ask: What is one thing your body lets you do that you’re grateful for?

Try: Try one care habit this week: sleep, movement, food, or kinder words to yourself.
