A short history of the area
Brazzaville became the capital of the French Congo in 1904 and later served as the capital of French Equatorial Africa. From 1940 to 1943, it served as the capital of Free France. Today, it is a large river city and the capital of the Republic of the Congo.
The Church here
- 1991Hyacinthe Massamba-Sita was called as the group leader in Brazzaville and was authorized to hold sacrament meetings and seek out other Church members.
- 1991The Makelekele Branch was organized in Brazzaville on June 9, with Jean Patrice Milembolo as president.
- 1991The Church was officially recognized by the Congolese government on October 15.
- 1992The Brazzaville Republic of the Congo District was organized, with Louis Madzela as president.
- 1992Elders Russell M. Nelson and Richard G. Scott visited and dedicated the country for the preaching of the gospel.
- 2003The Brazzaville Republic of Congo Stake was organized on October 19, with Jean Patrice Milembolo as president.
- 2014The Republic of Congo Brazzaville Mission was created.
