CHOICE LAND — 1 Nephi 2:20

Nephi didn’t cross an ocean looking for comfort. He followed God toward a promise.

Early in his journey, the Lord told Nephi that if he kept His commandments, he would “prosper, and shall be led to a land of promise; yea, even a land which I have prepared for you.” That promise came with a responsibility. The Book of Mormon repeatedly describes this promised land as a choice land, blessed with liberty—but only as its people remember the God who gave them that liberty.

That makes CHOICE LAND more than a patriotic slogan. It’s a reminder.

Freedom isn’t just something we inherit. It’s something we have a duty to preserve through faith, righteousness, repentance, and turning our hearts toward Jesus Christ.

President Ezra Taft Benson taught that the first requirement for preserving liberty is righteousness, pointing directly to the Book of Mormon’s warning that a people living upon this land must serve God. President Marion G. Romney likewise taught that America’s future depends upon learning from the past and moving forward in righteousness and obedience to God.

And that starts with us.

Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf taught that when the world becomes uncertain, disciples return to the fundamentals: prayer, scripture study, commandments, faith, and following the Lord.

So wear CHOICE LAND boldly.

Remember the promise. Remember the responsibility. Remember the God of this land.
