“Awake, and arise from the dust, O Jerusalem; yea, and put on thy beautiful garments, O daughter of Zion; and strengthen thy stakes and enlarge thy borders forever.” — Moroni 10:31

There are moments in life when we are called to do more than simply endure. We are called to wake up, stand up, and become stronger. “Awake and Arise” captures that powerful invitation found in the closing words of the Book of Mormon.

Moroni 10 is a final message of hope, faith, and action. After witnessing the destruction of his people and carrying the record of the Book of Mormon almost entirely alone, Moroni did not leave us with a message of despair. Instead, he called upon future generations to awake and arise. His message is a reminder that discipleship requires movement. Faith is not merely something we believe—it is something we live.

The imagery of strength in this design represents that principle. Physical strength can be developed through discipline, effort, resistance, and perseverance. Spiritual strength is developed in much the same way. Prayer, scripture study, repentance, service, sacrifice, and keeping covenants can sometimes feel difficult, but those very experiences can strengthen us.

The gospel of Jesus Christ does not promise a life without resistance. Instead, Christ teaches us how to rise above it. Moroni’s command to “awake, and arise” is especially meaningful because it is an invitation to action. We cannot remain spiritually asleep and expect to develop spiritual power. We must get up. We must choose faith when doubt comes. We must choose repentance when we fall. We must choose courage when obedience is difficult. We must choose Christ again and again.

The message also points toward the promises of the Restoration. Moroni’s final testimony directs readers toward Jesus Christ and invites them to seek truth through the power of the Holy Ghost. His words are not simply the conclusion of an ancient record—they are an invitation to modern disciples to discover the transforming power of the gospel for themselves.

Awake. Arise. Strengthen. Endure.
