MTC: Forward, Pressing Forward

The Missionary Training Center is a place of beginnings. It is where missionaries arrive with packed bags, new name tags, nervous energy, and a desire to serve the Lord. MTC | Forward, Pressing Forward captures that unmistakable mission spirit: keep moving, keep learning, and keep your face turned toward Jesus Christ.

The phrase echoes the beloved hymn “Press Forward, Saints,” which invites disciples to press forward with steadfast faith in Christ and a joyful heart. It also reflects Nephi’s teaching that after entering the path, we must “press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope” (2 Nephi 31:20). Missionary service is one expression of that lifelong command. It is not about having every answer on day one; it is about showing up willing to learn and testify.

At the MTC, missionaries study the gospel, practice teaching, learn languages, build companionship skills, and discover that the Lord can use imperfect people. Many quickly learn that the work is not powered by charisma, flawless pronunciation, or memorized lessons. It moves forward through the Holy Ghost, sincere love, humble effort, and a testimony of the Savior.
