A short history of the area
The settlement was renamed Perez-Dasmariñas in 1866. It became part of Imus again in 1903, returned to separate municipality status in 1917, and became the City of Dasmariñas after a 2009 plebiscite. The city is also known as the Industrial Giant of Cavite and the University City of Cavite.
