A short history of the area
Munich became Bavaria's capital in 1506 and the capital of the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1806. The city was heavily damaged during World War II, hosted the Summer Olympics in 1972, and is known for its museums, music, historic buildings, and Oktoberfest.

- 1850Lorenzo Snow sent Thomas B. H. Stenhouse over the Alps to preach in Switzerland.
- 1850sHundreds of people were baptized in Switzerland's French-speaking and German-speaking cantons over the following decade.
- 1950sChurch leaders worked to bring the full organization of the Church to Saints in Switzerland and other parts of Europe.
- 1950sBern was chosen as the location for Europe's first temple.
- 1955Members from many nations went to the house of the Lord in Switzerland's mountains to be taught and blessed.
